SFB/TRR 339 at Dresden Science Night

As part of TU Dresden's Science Night on June 20, SFB/TRR 339 also presented current research areas and results on the digital twin of the road to a wide audience. In addition to a general presentation of the research project, there was a live experiment on the targeted temperature control of carbon fiber-reinforced concrete – a new building material that is being developed and researched at SFB/TRR 339 for jointless concrete roadways. Asphalt – a widely used road construction material that is being specifically developed in SFB/TRR 339 into a high-performance asphalt with optimized properties – was also made tangible not only physically through a test specimen, but also digitally with a 3D model via VR glasses. In addition, a demonstrator that develops an adaptive prototype of a digital twin for a road section and encompasses all phases of digital twin operation (data acquisition, data aggregation, data preprocessing, simulation modeling, and decision-making) was presented. Among other things, an interactive dashboard, data collection using the example of a weather station, and rovers used in the demonstrator for targeted inspection, representing measurement vehicles, for example, were shown. Many thanks to everyone who supported this wonderful event with their commitment!
