Guest Researcher Gianluca Corazzari Herrera

Gianluca Corazzari Herrera is a Costa Rican civil engineer and researcher at the National Laboratory of Materials and Structural Models (LanammeUCR) of the University of Costa Rica, where he also serves as a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering.

His work primarily focuses on experimental, applied research in hot-mix asphalt design and pavement performance. He has led and contributed to projects addressing the fatigue performance of hot-mix asphalt and its correlation with mix physical characteristics, the development and refinement of fine aggregate matrix testing procedures, and the creation of pavement design and analysis software to complement Costa Rica’s national pavement design guidelines. He currently heads the Long-Term Pavement Performance Project of Costa Rica (DPLP-CR), which has continuously monitored 29 roadway sections across the national road network since 2017, providing critical data for improving pavement management and infrastructure planning.

He is currently a guest researcher at the TU Dresden contributing to the ongoing DFG funded Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TRR 339.
